The grapevine nursery was founded in 1968 by Dimitrios Politikos and its activity continues to this day by the second generation, specifically by Ioannis Politikos. As a student he got a bachelor’s degree in plant science and completed his postgraduate studies receiving a master’s degree in the United States of America in the field of viticulture while his thesis conducted in grapevine propagation. Yiannis Politikos combines scientific knowledge along with experience and applies modern methods in all stages of the production process. The outcome is producing high quality grafted vine plants having a strong root system, fully healed graft union and of course meeting all the phytosanitary standards set by the European Union.
A great number of parameters are required to be taken into account regarding vineyard establishment which is the most significant part for its proper development. Many decisions made before planting, for instance, rootstock- scion choice, training and trellis system, row spacing cannot change afterwards could greatly affect the vineyard profitability.
